Just the sight of Boy Georgie hawking his book [sic] splashed all over the Tee Vee Machine has increased my tension quotient to nearly 2001 levels. His combination of evasion and admissions is typical of his mangled attempts to communicate via utterly stupid, incoherent, self-serving utterances that pass for interviews.

Bush is a war criminal, an inarticulate, douchey excuse for a public figure (I have never been able to refer to him as "president") who continues to spout revisionist history using the same lies, excuses, and arrogant talking points he passed off as "truth" for years.

And yet, despite his admissions, our current administration has insisted on "looking forward, not back", and to date, our Department of Justice continues to allow crimes to go unpunished.

And then along comes Jerrold Nadler, a welcome voice, who like many of us has had it up to here, and who feels it's time for some real change:

I am outraged by President Bush’s own admission in his newly released memoir that he personally authorized the use of waterboarding on detainees while in office. This admission, delivered without remorse or regret, reminds us disturbingly of the persistent lack of accountability and resolution in confronting the crime of torture committed by our own government," Nadler said in a statement. "The only way forward is to appoint a special prosecutor with a broad mission to investigate and, if warranted, prosecute these known cases of torture."  [...]

"As I have long said, it is imperative that the Department of Justice ensure that a special counsel fully investigates the commission of torture, follows the trail wherever it goes and, if warranted, prosecutes accordingly... There is no legal or moral reason to insulate those who authorized or ordered the torture of detainees.”

And so we wait. And hope. Again.
